01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
At Komachi, the idea is to enjoy a relaxed drink with small dishes reminiscent of home cooking in Kyoto. One diner described the cooking as “elegantly seasoned, without sharp or overpowering flavours”, and likened the experience to having a drink with the kind of dishes you might eat at home. The bar has counter seating only, and its standing format suits ordering a few small plates at a time to enjoy with a drink, rather than settling in for a leisurely meal.
The menu includes fried shumai, fried shishamo, a long sausage, French fries and edamame with cheese. There are light bites to start with, and you can add another dish if you feel like eating more. Chicken cooked with butter and soy sauce is also listed. Drinks include draft and bottled beer, as well as shochu made from either sweet potato or barley, served on the rocks, with water or with hot water. Sake is available chilled or hot, and cup wine comes in red or white. There are options to match the food or your mood.
The bar is also described as suitable for solo diners, making it an option for dropping in alone. Dining is available on the premises only, and payment is by cash.
